Bedroom Decorating?

Question:I want to decorate my bedroom in an Oriental syle motiff. I will use colors like red, black and white. Are there other colors I can try? Also, what items can I use to give it that "feel?" Thanks.

Answers:
I think that the color combination you are using is great. You could use white or cream on your walls I would use a warm elm wood platform bed with black night tables or hand painted black with gold or red and a coin chest at the foot of your bed for blankets. Elegance in simplicity. A wooden dresser would look nice I would use a while silk, tan or red comforter.
You could use a shoji screen in front of the windows to shade the light or wooden blinds. Add a tatami mat which is made of straw covered by rush and edged by a decorative fabric or a bamboo rug.

Bring in a water fountain if you have the room and place it against a wall. Hang some calligraphy art prints themed: patience, love, appreciation and courage to change. You could use a bonsai plant on your dresser or some willow branches in a pottery vase. For accessories, a Buddha, Terra cotta warrier, paper fans or a kimono hung on the wall.

I like the warm wood mixed with some black as accents. And I like the walls neutral. Red would be too stimulating. This is the place you go to for rest and relaxation. Black furniture also shows the dust more.

If you have the room, you could add a futon with a low table.

I actually went to bed thinking of this so this is my modified fresh morning idea.

(You could use carved wooden panels for a headboard).

Fun project.

I would keep it simple and clean. the more colors you have the harder it will be to distinguish one piece from another. red black and white would be perfect. they have these paper lamps that you can get and they are very oriental looking. you could put those cute little fans on your wall too. this website has some really cute things. even if you dont buy anything from there atleast it will give you some more ideas!! http://oriental-decor.com/
oooooooooohhh exiting!
i think the colours are good and will work really well especially if you have more than one shade of red. Its a really good idea to create depth and space in a room so of the four walls only one should be red and preferably the one that your bed head is on or one the touchs that wall. Above your bed its great to have a large miror to create the illusion of space.
As for accesories cane would work well for the oriental look and try not to clutter to much. If the floor is carpeted dont worry but if its wood put a thick rug the colour of the theme wall. Dont forget to make the best of the window and try and lets as much light in as possible
Good luck, hope this helps
Paint two walls white, back wall behind bed red, and have a black satin bedspread or duvet. Side tables in White or Silver grey. Side table lamps white shades-black base.Accesories can be scatter cushions in scarlet and white.Curtains - whatever you fancy, Black will make look very heavy, White will be best. Prints on wall bringing color scheme together.Ornaments,Glassware etc. A bull-fighting poster would work, as those colours are usually in it.Then all you need is to put your furniture in.White Headboard perhaps. Bedroom chair, Dressing table- white painted A few fans, A kimono, some bamboo, it's your choice. Good Luck!
jade, gold
Well I think the black and red a definitely a long the lines of that theme and if you want to create a very simple striking look then whites the way to go. If you want to do a warmer more traditional look you could add a beige and maybe a mid green into it. If I were you I would buy all my furniture in a black (very dark) timber, a lattice cutout in the head board and in the top of the bedsides would look good. A red slightly patterned silk bedspread and plain black, red and white cushions. Simple black floating shelves in groups with oriental picture frames or other themed accessories. A funky black frame screen with white paper would look cool.
Striking oriental rooms are best simplistic, so too many different patterns won't work.
Bits of red, black, and major creamy brown. White doesn't seem that oriental to me, instead try green if you still want more. Have lots of bamboo, vases, rattan, and don't use many colors. You could have an Asian-style black wooden bed with red motifs (think Mulan and empresses). Bedding should be sage and/or creamy brown. Walls can be light brown.
