you can get a small sander for about 15.00. and do it yourself. A pro sander would run you about 200.00. Its your money, so you can decide that. Look one up in the yellow book.
If you don't have much then you should be able to do it yourself. Also, some plastering might be needed from previous holes from pictures and such.
Don't forget your primer before you paint, and I would ask the pro at the paint store before you just go putting on a coat or two.
Polycel make a paint stuff now that is supposed to sort this out, pop down B&Q
try using a bit of elbow grease and use a scraper
u need to sand them. have a party with us from FindHomeAnswers get beers in and well all help u x
you can get some really cheap things like sanders now and its cheaper than hiring, have a look round the big supermarkets as they are all competing on low priced things like this.
Hot water and vinegar will get the extra wallpaper off the wall.
If you wet the remaining bits of wallpaper, you'll find they come away easily..Then just rub down lightly, and then fill any dents with polyfilla (quite cheap) sand lightly to smooth and even..Then you're ready to paint...If you want to lessen the coats of paint, apply a sealer first.
hiya i'm a painter & decor you should try steaming the bits of existing paper or either that get warm bubbly water and brush it over to soak it then scrape it off, as for sanding you don't need to hire a sander, go to a local build store or DIY and get 100 grade sand paper that should do the trick. remember all the walls should be rubbed down and filled before applying paint
I had the same problem 2 weeks ago... take some water and some fabric softener mix in a spray bottle. Spray affected area and scrap of ... should come out really easily... I have a full wall where the glue did not come of with the wallpaper... did this and it worked out great!
Good Luck! :0
Soak them with hot water and then fill in any holes you might have with a poly filler, remember and put lining paper up as it helps either before painting or papering.
If your getting a sander then just go round your local shops to see if they do any cheap and price a few before buying or hiring one that way you get the cheapest
If you know how to hang paper you might be better off hanging lining paper (very cheap) and paint that. Gives a much better finish.
been there use very hot water add washing liquid and some vinegar wash walls down then rinse ,for your stubborn bits use a window scarper its a razor in a t shaped holder this will remove rest of paper use medium sand paper and sand down walls you can do this by hand use wet and dry sand paper this will cut down on dust the motion you will use is the same as washing down wall circular motion than with a sham rinse off and this will remove dust leave to dry .first coat is a mist coat water down paint 1part water 2parts paint followed by 2/3 coats of normal paint if you get slip and runs paint to thick spread out paint hope this helps you will feel good when job is done oops don't forget to fill in dents and crack with a filler than sand down use sham to remove dust happy painting.
you can hire sanders but the best thing to do (if you wanted to) is hang some backing paper then paint. the effects are brilliant and there is hardly any difference from skimmed walls. my friend did it and i was worried about the end result as i have skimmed walls but, honestly, it looked great.
