What is the best way to paint a room, skirtings or walls first?

Question:The walls are bare plaster and the wood is bare also. I have primed the skirtings and a lot of the primer went onto the plaster walls. I hope that painting over this with Emulsion will hide it.

Answers:
if the primer for the wood is darker or will bleed through the paint on the plaster then use kilz. it is an undercoat that covers just about anything. had a plumb room in a friends place. they wanted eggshell white. primed it with kilz and one coat of the white. no bleed through.
i would use regular drywall primer and if that doesnt stop the bleethrough from the spatters from the wood then use kilz on those spots.
i always paint the walls then the baseboards.

Wals first, believe me!!
tape off the skirtings and paint the walls first then after they have dried paint the skirting.
