I love decorating on the cheap. I would love to see your creative, cheap ideas you have used in your home to?

Question:decorate and organize and make your environment happy. No pics? ideas will be fine. Thanks.

I have added beautiful tassel or fringe trim to cheap drapes and it makes them look very expensive. Also, I love CraigsList for buying furniture and mirrors dirt cheap. If you have a Homegoods type store around, they sell expensive looking pillows at reasonable prices and they can make a plain sofa look elegant. I recently bought some cheap pillows and had them monogrammed for $5.00 each.

I have gotten a few cheap things at antique stores. One example: a really old hand held mirror with a silver covered handle and the back had a lovely design that matched the colors in my bathroom. I hung it on the wall. It was $1.99. an old hurricane lamp for my picture window sill. $8.00. Old crotchet doilies on end tables or walls.
You could decorate mirrors by putting on cute material around the edge. or spaz up a lamp shade by stringing beads around the bottom of the shade.
Soy candles!!
They add an amazing ambiance, and soy candles WILL NOT leave soot marks on your walls! They are easy to clean up too, if they are spilled!

Hi, I also LOVE decorating inexpensively.
I got these tips from a Michael Holland website:
-Rearrange the furniture (away from the walls)
-Paint the walls (Make one wall your focal point-paint is relatively inexpensive, and you could try implementing new faux paint techniques, like ragging, sponging, marbleizing or stencilin
-Try having plants to add freshness to the room (Other people prefer silk plants)
-Lay an Area Rug (at an angle beneath your coffee table)
-Hang Pictures or a mirror (pictures that reflect personality)
-Add decorative pillows to your furniture (I usually scour my newspapers for a sale at Bed & Bath or wherever)
-Replace lamps (try new and modern lamps-with the new compact bulbs to save energy)
-Besides pillows, add a throw or an afghan (great styles to choose from)
Try going to yard/garage/tag sales. I have found some great things over the years. Picture frames, old ones that need a little help, then put your own pictures in. Old furniture that can be stripped or painted or decoupaged to your taste. Always look for deep discount stores selling wallpaper and paint. Try flea markets and antique sales. Now is a great time to look for deals. If you sew, look for fabric on sale or better yet look for it at the above mentioned places. I have accessorized 6 houses this way. It also allows you to develop your own unique signature. Your home will be uniquely your own. Go to the library and get some books on flea market chic and decorating with them.
