Whats the best colour for a bedroom?!?

Question:please give me some inspiring ideas for a relaxing, peaceful bedroom scheme. My room is square, smallish and gets lots of south facing light. It is currently lilac (dont ask me why - yuck!) and I really dont want anything depressing, dark or yellow -cus I hate yellow. Thanks for any ideas -

You can get heaps of ideas from HGTV. Here are some bedroom makeovers in different colors that may give you some inspiration:

I suggest doing a border strip of light purple around the top where the wall meets the ceiling . Its enough to calm you and give it color, but not too much like a whole wall.
black with orange lighting with a touch of yellow on sides. wow it looks great. you will like it.
a light blue might do.
if you want a relaxing room choose cool colors such as blue and greens. don't choose them too dark because if you have a small room it will make it look smaller.
always get light colors for small rooms.. as you pointed out =D
WHITE is perfect for me.
i used to hate it cause it was boringg..
then i decided to get a border around the top.
since in a teeny.. i got pink black and green polkadot border around the top. if you dont like it.. its alot easier to redo than to paint over the whole room.

.. lets see if i can draw thiss..

Try soothing cool colors in baby blue or aqua, mint or sage green, or lavender.
Pick three colors you like [ including on or more of above ]
paint walls color # 1 [ say, blue ]
buy rug in # 2 [ mint ]
get bedding and drapes in all three [ blue, mint, lavender ]
add pillows in all three colors
get relaxing paintings or prints that complement or contrast with your colors [ one large or group of 2-4 looks good over bed ]
add accessories in all three colors - lamps, dresser sets, candles, vase, picture frames
