I want to put blinds in my window, problem is the window casing is vinyl can I drill into the vinyl casing?
Question:The problem with the window is the casing is vinyl and I don't know if I can drill into it, without perhaps running into leaking windows in the future. The vinyl casing comes out about 2 inches and then I have about an inch of wood casing around that. I would like to put up 2 inch faux wood blinds. Overall question is can I drill into vinyl window casings?
Answers:
The vinyl is not thick enough to bear the weight. Your blinds will end up in a pile on the floor (guaranteed). You also run the risk of damaging operating parts of the window (not to mention voiding warrantees)
Anchor them to the opening or the face of the wall.
You could drill into the vinyl but I sure wouldn't. Windows are to costly. I always get larger size blinds and screw into the wood or drywall. That way it can be easily patched or repaired in the future.
You can but I wouldn't...
You can drill outside the casing but if you want something snug .. try getting the exact size of the blind.. I did this and it was so snug it held up perfectly without anything.. and never once did it fall.. so no holes..
