How much would it cost to tile my house?
Question:I am building a new home and I didn't upgrade to tile because I thought it was to expensive. About how much would it cost to tile a (about) 3X3 entry way, a 12X3.5 Kitchen, 2 small bathrooms, and a 10X10 laundry room?
Answers:
about $50 for the entry, About $200 for the kitchen. $500 for the laundry. assuming tiles you are looking at are approx $3-$4 per 12"x12" piece. Plus, you will need the know how and tricks to laying tile. It's not as easy as it looks. I would wait until the home is complete then get SEVERAL (4-5) estimates from different contractors.
about 2,000$
Almost enough to not afford not to!
couple thousand have Home Depot give ya estimate - probably free if you bring in the sq. footage
If you shop around you can get it done for 3 to 5 dollars a square foot with a decent quality job. Go to job sites that are at that stage and find the floor covering installers. Ask them if they work on the side, most of them do. Your price will be cheaper if you don't have to pay a flooring company. Tile is available at Lowe's or Home Depot and they usually have some on sale.
about $5.00 a square ft for ceramic. natural stone generally costs more to lay. definately worth the money. if you do choose to tile, make sure you seal the grout. this is very important and you will be glad you did.
I didnt get the size of your bathrooms, but it depends on do you want cheaper tile or expensive and if you are laying it or you hiring someone to lay it. if you have about 180 feet to tile these rooms, if you but the more expensive tile alot of it is 10 tiles to a box and runs sometimes $20.00 a box. if you are buying the cheaper boxes that come in 30 to a box for $ 10.00 a box you would need 6 boxes, I would buy one extra box for mistakes and your floor glue runs about $10.00 to $ 15.00 dollars a bucket.
use cork. cork is great for those areas. but to answer the question around 1500 and up. the sky is the limit to up because you can get tile for 48 cents per sqft up to 20 dollars per sqft and labor is between 3.50 to 5 per sqft. if it is around 3.50 or less than you are probably going with an unexperienced cousin pete or something
