What's a good color to paint the walls?

Question:We have mexican tile throughout the house and we want to paint the bathroom and kitchen. Does it look okay to have different colored walls in every room? What are some good color suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Answers:
Yes! Paint each room a different color, but make sure the have a similar feel to them, otherwise your house will seem scattered and not very cohesive.

Embrace your fabulous Mexican tile and use nice bright colors. Reds, Oranges, Yellows and Blues would be beautiful. If you are affraid to go too dark, paint the room an overall light color and then just travel down the swatch card to find a darker version of the same tone to use on one wall.

Some color suggestions:
(all Sherwin WIlliams, can be found online and duplicated in any barnd)
Harvester (SW 6373)
Jetstream (SW 6492)
Sociable (SW 6359)
Warming Peach (SW 6338)

light tan or beige.
light brown.
i painted my bathroom hallway with bitter chocolate. looks greeat. different color rooms make it an interesting contrast..
I think it's OK to have different colored walls in rooms that close off - but when rooms are sort of combined together, the same color, or same tones of a color work best.

How about a soft yellow brown - like sandstone?
I LOVE different colors all over. Just take your time and do a great job painting. It will look gorgeous. :)

Oranges and blues look gorgeous with Mexican tile.

Good luck and have fun with it.
well...it depends on how you would like it... for example, if you are optimistic, you could use a pale orange, for the kitchen, and if you would like to switch the usual blue in the bathroom, you could use a pale green. hope you'll like it. good luck!!
Your welcome in advance! Lol,I think different colors in every room is great, personally. It brings out the flavor and personality of each room, and deletes repetativeness and the boring, "same old same old". If your room is small, use a bright color to make it look bigger! Bright colors are also great to spruce up the kitchen, studies show that a brightly colored kitchen can actually put you in a good mood, lol! Dark colors are great for bedrooms and for really big rooms you might want to seem smaller.Mexican tile sounds really pretty! Also, try different painting techniques with sponges and brushes and stencils,it's a cheap way to add even more flavor! Good luck and have fun! :)
For the bathroom you can use white, blue, green..those colors looked clean and refreshing!
And for the kitchen use the dark colors so it won't need a lot of maintenance!I suggest dark brown or maroon...because those colors are warm and will increase your appetite! It's OK to have different colored walls in every room, trust me! But if it annoys you use some filters! You're welcome!
any color that you like but i recomend "venetian plaster" its a type of paint that has a shine and looks like marbel.its really nice in any color.
cream perhaps?
Yea, I think it's find to have different colors in every room. As long as they aren't dramatic colors. But I would suggest a beige or a light gold.
Depends on your own personal preferences- some people insist on giving each room a color of its own while others prefer having one color flow through the home.

What colors you choose also depend on what you want the room to exhibit. For example, if you want something calm, something that makes the room more open, go for a lighter color. If you want a warmer, cozier feel, go with a darker color. If you want to be bold, choose a bright color.

Whatever you do, take into consideration your furniture and fixtures; unless you plan on changing all those as well.

Good luck!
There are so many different shades of colors out there. Choosing a color is personal and things like natural light and other elements in the room make a difference, so its hard to recommend a color if I haven't seen your room. The best thing to do is to paint some oak tag with some sample colors that attract you, and tape it to the wall. You can never really tell from those tiny paint samples they have in the stores. Benjamin Moore makes small $3.00 samples, so you dont have to buy the whole quart. Thats what I did the second time around and it saved me a lot of money! I loved all the colors I chose and didn't have to repaint anything! Good luck!
You do not mention how large your house is. If your home is large, many different harmonizing colors can be great.

If your home is small, you may want to stay with the same color throughout or just one or two closely related colors.

If you have long summers and short winters, you want to think about cool colors in shades of blue and green.

If you have long winters and short summers, do the opposite try for shades of yellow and orange.

Do you have a digital camera . If so take photos of your tile and take the photo to your paint store. The tile can be matched exactly for a really spacious look ... and or you can check out different paint samples side my side with the photo.

If no digital camera. bring paint chips home to test against the tile..

One thing about paint. it is not too expensive so if you make a boo boo it can be corrected.

I like high gloss paint in the bathroom. It is easiest to clean.
Semi-gloss in the kitchen.
