What color should i paint my room?

Question:its a fairly large room and i have light oak colored funiture. it was just purple before from when i moved in so i dont want any purples. i have rug now but pergo floors and white molding are going to be put in so what color do you think would look best? i want it to match and not be too over powering. thanks

Answers:
I'd go with a really light yellow shade or even leave it white. Will give it a fresh and clean look.

Make it a light color like yellow. Nice to wake up to.
I would try a medium to dark tan color. It would make the moulding pop and the oak furniture would look like it tied into the paint. And since it is a big room you odn't have to worry about the color making it appear smaller. IT would look classic.
they have a nice brown color. its very light. like chocolate milk colored, maybe cocoa. it looks really nice with white molding.
I'd suggest a sage green-kinda looks like the page I am answering on right now. Looks really good with oak furniture(my master) and even with cherrywood (like my bathroom)
A light blue room would really match the white molding and the oak. If you put too many earthy tones in the room, it blends in with the oak and makes it sorta disappear. I'd say that light blue, light green, and pretty much any pastel color would work, but not light yellow or orange.
it's sounds nice. so nooo purples. hmmmm. chocolate w/ white would b good... blue like a blue-green or green like a deep to med green w/ white. it also kinda depend on u'r style & likes. Do u lean more towards modern/contemporary or traditional or retro or what. U stated that u had a rug. So what colors r in the run & if u like the colors y not aim to put them on the wall. U can put one on u'r wall & anthr for accent. (other than u'r white) w/ u'r lt oak u could get away w/ a big darker colors on the wall b/c the lt floors & furniture will off-set it PLUS u stated it was a large room. U can always paint a darker shade of the color on the bttm. 1/2 or so then lighter shade of what color u choose. If u like traditional.. put a molding in white in the middle like a chair rail. If u like modern/contemp.. then put a stripe or stripes of the white...

I would even (if poss.. take u'r rug to the paint store so u can match up colors.) get several samples of the colors u like & put them on the wall & look at them thru-out the day & nt & that should help u determine which u would like.

B creative & have fun~
