Where do you think the best place to get foam from couches and sofas that people are throwing away?

Around here (Kansas) they have "big trash day", when it's ok for people to put large items like furniture out for pick-up and disposal. You might call your local disposal service, find out what day they do that, and drive around looking for couches. Most people will start putting stuff out a few days before pickup day. I always see a ton of furniture out when they do it here.

You might also check with your local Goodwill or Salvation Army type store. A lot of times they get middle of the night deliveries of stuff they can't sell, like really beat up couches, and they'll just toss them in the dumpster.

Also, www.craigslist.org might be a good place to try, if you're willing to haul off someone's sofa for them.
