How much does it cost to have centralized air conditioning put in your house?
Question:I know it depends on house size (mine's less than 1500 sq. ft.) and probably other factors too, but I'm looking for ballpark. $1,000? $5,000 $10,000?

for your size house approximately $4500. might make a difference where you live too. i.e. labour costs. This price is for bay area, california.
For my house, it cost $10,000. We only did two out of our three floors: the second and the third. The second floor has six rooms including the bathroom, and our third floor has only two rooms. I would seriously recommend buying air-conditioning. It's a very smart investment.
I had new furnace AND air condition unit put in 3 yrs ago cost me under $4,000.00 for both It was a Trane unit also. Just a new air conditioner with old furnace would have been @least $2,000.00 and maybe I was told old furnace would probably need replaced anyway(25 yrs old) Really was more energy efficient to buy whole package.
Your not going to get a proper estimate on Y/A. Why not call up a Central air company, and get an estimate. That would be my best advise to you. Ever hear the expression, "let your fingers do the shopping" when they advertise in the yellow pages.
