Not one bit childish. It just shows you have creativity and are not held back by the conventional colors or designs of rooms for others your age.

depends on where they live, I guess, and how big or how much the pirate theme is. Here in Florida yearly there is a Pirate festival in February which includes beads, hats, costumes, a ball, and people ride in the parade and ride boats and all. When they come home from that festival the beads hang in their car (on the mirror) for years and people have momentos in their bedrooms. When people used to trip to New Orleans for Ash Wednesday's parade there they would come back with pirate directions from there too. If the 20-year old made or wore a costume or made a caricature or took a picture and he or she is proud of that, or took a trip or wants to take a trip or enjoys the history of pirates for the moment, then I see nothing wrong with that theme. In time the theme will change. Not to worry.
Everyone decorates their own space. Some have conventional looks they get from magazines. Some have decor that is totally thoughtless.
It is not childish to have a pirate-themed room. Pirates decor is cool. Being able to make your room into whatever you like is good and good for you. It brightens your spirit.
Dear shankis, did you know there is an actual "talk like a pirate day"?This was started by adults...my answer to your question would be another question.Who sees your room?There are young guys out there with athletes pictures on their walls, so why shouldn't you have a pirate theme?I think your theme shows imagination, and depending on what type of accessories you use, it could be very cool...Like maybe find pictures of captain's cabins complete with a fake veiw of the sea...finish the walls so they look like the inside of a ship...if you know someone whos good with a ban saw, you could even design and make swords to hang on the walls...go for it!I'd love to see pix when you're finished...myself I've always wanted an under sea mermaid's cave...Good luck!
If it's a bedroom, then: YES !!! If it's an extra room used as a bar/party-room then a theme can be cool. Just keep it inexpensive as themes change often!
