How much does it cost for professional house painting?
Question:On average, what does it cost per room to have a professional painter paint the rooms in your home? What if you supply the paint? I will need 6 rooms painted, including two rooms that need priming, and all the trim.
Answers:
Actually it all depends on the square feet of your house, but I can give you some idea how much it can cost you (approx).
This site gives you an estimate according to your zip code:

There is also a web site which can give you an estimate:

If you are going to supply the paint, it can cost you around $700-$1000 including Priming of two rooms. It's always best to shop around, I mean call few people and get an estimate.
You may also know, people who paints, most of the time, they get about 30% discount on their purchase, you can also save some extra dollars on the pain.
You can also offer cash for the job and you may save $100-$200 extra.
Hope, the above would give you some idea!
Not enough info... some states require bonding, licensing, etc. This is sort of a protection against people doing bad things while in your home (most customers don't check references & even then, only 2 or 3 references could mean that some of them are friends or family with different last names).
Need to know where you're located...
It will depend on the size of the rooms being painted and how many coats of paint you want. Some painters will charge less if you supply the paint. The last time I got a quote for having a room painted I supplied the paint. It was for a room that is 14 x 20 with 9 ft ceilings. The guy charged 200.00, but this did not include painting the trim. The only thing to do is call around and get quotes.
My hubby is a painter and 3/4 of a quality paint job is in the room prep! He charges $40.00 an hour as long as there aren't any big repairs -- those are separate. he's fast too so it does't take him long to do a room! I keep telling him to charge by the room cuz he's too fast ! His paint jobs look fabulous! He should chage $300 to $400 for average size room (12 x 12 to 16 x 16) and that would include the trim! and the doors! Doors should be done off the hinges , on saw horses, with little sponge rollers --- then they look factory! Brushing doors looks bad, dont let anyone do that to your woodwork!
I ama contractor in the upper mid west and I bill my guys time out at 60 dollars and hour or there are some smaller contractors with less overhead who are about 45 to 50...if it is a sq ft bid for two coats it is approx 1.45 per sq ft.
