Dark blue trust me the combo works really well.

BLACK..
magnolia
Black of course - why did you even need to ask?
mental black
I agree,,,black.
black
GRAY. Or Black Death. Really, a light gray won't make you feel like you're in a coffin, unless that's what you were going for, tastewise...
grey, but not too dark
gunmetaal black. it's sooo cool:)
Black is your best bet, if you paint it red it won't have he complete gothic look. If you have windows you could try deep purplish curtains to give it an eary look! For more info on Gothic Interior decor I recommend this book: http://www.amazon.com/paint-black-guide-...

Hope this helps!
Black will make the ceiling look lower, so unless it's a big room, you might not like that. I'd go with a mid-grey - it won't detract from the red.
Black is obvious. But a VERY dark shade of purple would work too.
When you're lying there on your bed, looking up & thinking about the world around you, you can paint your own colours in your mind's eye. That's what I did..

Then much, much later - when you have children of your own maybe - you'll be able to tell them the same thing.
dark blue or black
Black
A slightly darker shade of the same red. Add a little black paint to any leftover red you have and that should do the trick.
