Does the size of your bed depend on the size of the room?
Question:I had a full sized bed that I decided to "upgrade" to a beautiful pillowtop queen. I opted for the low profile (standard) boxspring. However, the company delivered the high profile. I told them I'd try it out and let them know in a few days if I wanted to return or keep. I bought some brand new, luxurious bedding. The bed is taller than a standard bed and my room is on the smaller side (I rent an apartment). I really like the bed - I think the height makes it seem larger and almost the focal point of the room. However, the size of the bed does make the room feel smaller. It looks strange to have such a big bed in a small room. But, I won't live in an apartment forever. I'll probably have the bed for at least 10 years. Should I keep it or send it back for the lower profile bed? My parents have a king sized bed on a low profile in a large room and the bed seems flat for such a big room. I am so undecided! From the floor to the top of the mattress is about 31 inches. It's about 56 in wide
Answers:
There are different ways to make a room look larger. Paint the walls a light color. Use mirrors. If possible, angle the bed in a corner.
Whether you return the high profile is a personal decision. I prefer the high profile beds myself.
Well, 31 inches already seems fairly low to me. As you said, you won't be living in an apartment forever, so I wouldn't sweat it. I am assuming you aren't hosting a lot of parties in your bedroom, so who cares if it looks a little big?
i would stay stick with the bed you have. The only time it will really matter on size, is queen to king, not the heighth of the bed. The height should only matter if its to tall to you, if you want the low profile because of your heighth, then go that way, if its fine the way it is, stick with it.
