I'm a painting contractor, and I notice when I paint exteriors, bees & wasps are attracted to the paint. Why?
Question:During the hot months whenever I paint outside, I'm constantly bothered by bumble bees and wasps. They come up and hover, like they're "sniffing' the wet paint. (Especially under the eaves)
Answers:
it possibly smells sweet like certain flowers to them,
a helping hint i got through an email ,
you have heard of Bounce Dryer Sheets ?
take a couple of these and stick them in your back pocket letting it hang out some,
i have been told that bee's and mosquitoes can't stand the smell of them , and will leave you alone,
i'm not sure but i think that it said the original scent,
but if its windy you may need more than a couple of them,
hope this helps,
kay
Funny that you mention this.just yesterday my husband was spraying under the eaves when he was almost attacked by wasps. (he's a paint contractor as well).
I don't know about them "sniffing" paint, but of course you will disturb their hives under the eaves.
My husband just sprayed them with paint and that of course got rid of them. :-)
Somebody told me that are the colors, specially yellow, mustard, etc.
