Where to find living room furniture that is free to good homes?

Question:my family is looking for living room sofas and tables that people do not want and are willing to give away in gary indiana or surrounding areas.

Answers:
Try your local Salvation Army. You might not get it free but you will probably get it for next to nothing.

There's a great organization out there called Freecycle. Go to www.freecycle.org and find your area. It's free to join and belong. People are always giving away beds, sofas, desks, tables, rugs, anything you can think of.

If you can't find your exact county, you can join freecycle in a neighboring county.

Good luck! Hope you find lots of stuff.
In my area of the country there are certain times each year called junk days. In the weeks beforehand, people leave furniture that they don't want anymore lying around outside on the street. If your neighborhood does anything similar, that would be the perfect place to find a sofa for free. People won't mind if you take it from them, because otherwise it was going to be junk.

Good luck!
Try craigslist.org
It automatically dumps you into San Francisco bay area, but if you look to the right, there are a whole bunch of different places you can choose from.
It's like an online tag-sale, but people also list things for free, or at a very little cost.
Just watch for fleas in the furniture. Ask about dogs/animals in the house. I love animals, but not fleas.
