I love my IKEA couch. It's very Comfy!! the best part is the covers. We bought several covers so we can change them often. The covers are machine washable. It makes it easy considering we have 2 dogs. Ours is about 3 years old and is still as sturdy as the day we bought it.
I have and it was crap. We ended up buying one from Home Elegance to replace it less than a year after we bought it. Everytime anyone (fat or skinny) sat on it, it would creak and groan its frustration of being sat upon. Eventually, the bottom fell out and it really starting coming apart. There are three things life you shouldn't think of being cheap on: Furniture, Cars, and Shoes. Truth is, with Ikea, you really get what you pay for. JCPenny has some nice stuff, and its pretty affordable.
My friend has a couch from IKEA. It's cute and comfy. Labled as brown (OBVIOUSLY purple). She hasn't had any problems with it. Plus, it seems to hold up okish to cat claws
