Can I put a solid color stain of one color over a solid color stain of another color on my deck?

Question:I have a deck with a solid color grey stain that is over 5 years old. Would I be able to stain it with another color (tan or red) right over the grey stain if I sand the deck where needed.

Answers:
yes, we had yellow stain on our deck, we just sanded the rough spots and stained over it. We used a dark green stain so I would suggest a darker color like red, tan may not work. Hope this helps.

You should sand the deck all over first. Fill all areas in need of repair and then re stain.
Yes, sand really well though so you have a consistent color prior to applying your new stain
