Do I need a permit to build a utility room in my basment in Suffolk county, NY?
Question:I'm building a non-residential utility room, 12x17 feet, in the basement of my colonial frame-construction house in Suffolk county of Long Island, New York. Do I need to obtain any permits for that? Are there specific permits to install insulation?
Answers:
It's worth investigating before you begin any work. If you fail to get a permit, it can come back to haunt you later on, for example when you try to sell your house. Check with your local building department.
