Professional furniture restorers, please.?
Question:We have just acquired this really great antique library table. It is structurally very sound. The ony problem is with the table top. The veneer is missing in several places and the veneer that is still there is stained with coffee cup rings, etc. Peeling off the remaining veneer does not appear to be a good option because the wood underneath does not seem to be too high a quality. I really need a professional opinion on what I should do to fix these issues. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Salad oil might fix the cup rings. You can try adding new wood where missing and sanding it smooth, remember the existing veneer is very thin. Then match the stain. Or use wood filler, sand smooth and add new veneer to the whole serface and stain, which is probably your best option.
