Any painters out there?

Question:Upon painting a room recently, some oil based Kilz splattered on the floor and got under my drop cloth. When I found it, it was completely dried and now it won't come up. I've tried paint cleanup and mineral spirits but nothing seems to work. Does anyone know how to get this hardened paint up short of sanding or something like that?

Answers:
I'm A painter of 37 years..first of all is it original kilz or kilz II primer...original kilz will come up with lacquer thinner..and kilz II will come up with denatured alcohol...kilz two is water based and original kilz is oil based...Here is something to beware of though.what type of floor? If it is wood or wood laminate..try the appropriate products above for the type of kilz used, but try in a dark corner of a closet etc..reason/ You do not know what type of finish is on the flooring and if it is a water borne polyurethane..the denatured alcohol will also take the coating off if rubbed real hard...andif a lacquered or oil base polyurethane the lacquer thinner will remove it..now if it is linoleum or tile..neither product will harm them...

did u allow the mineral spirits or paint thinner to sit on the paint? Like take a rag & put on it then soak it w/ the spirits or thinner. Open a window or have a fan blowin the air out the window so u won't get too many fumes. I take it this is a wood floor it's on. I would try that lst.. then the last liquid would b ..doing the same... acetone. Wear gloves.. this is strong & WILL take up the stain/varnish on the floor. IF that doesn't work... then u'r down to sanding.. but... u may have to b persistant & patient but keep putting the liquid on it. It should soften the paint up so u can putty it off. U may have some light sanding to do either way, but hopefully not mch & then u can re-varnish it.

Hope that helps.
I am not a painter, but as far as I know in my limited knowledge of paint- you may need to sand. Kilz is a pretty good primer. Primer is made to stick to most any surface and to help the paint adhere and last longer. Had it been just paint you may have been able to scrape it off, I think primer is a bit more permanent. Try reading the can and see if it has any directions for spills or removal. Best of luck!

Kilz is almost impossible to remove. My husband does professional painting. Call the company and ask for advice because they may have something special for accidents to that nature and not all things like that can be bought in a normal store. You can also try Sherwin Williams, they know they're products and they could assist you on your best bet.
try using a cabinet scraper they can be purchased at rockler they sell a 3 piece set for about $10 the cabinet scrapers have a bur on them that you would drag across the kills be careful as not to remove the floor finish
