California Themed Party?
Question:A friend of mine is moving to San Francisco, and I am throwing her a going away party. I was thinking of doing a California theme, but I can't find any decorating ideas.
The only idea I can come up with is getting some of those inflatable palm trees, or those palm tree foil balloons, but I need more suggestions.
The party will be held at a local bar. Thanks in advance for suggestions.
Answers:
Well if its at a bar you could have a CA bar list. Start north or south and work your way up or down. Margaritas for San Diego. Appletinis for LA...wine for napa valley... Something glitzy for hollywood... hot buttered run for lake tahoe... etc...
it could be a hollywood themed party.
you could have a golden gate bridge somewhere.
have it be a gold rush party
Golden Gate Bridge, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" (song), we are known for our wine, the whole "happy cows live in CA" campaign for the cheese, how about some beach toys like plastic buckets & shovels, a surf or boogie board, bottles of sunscreen, beach chairs and umbrellas, maybe even some sand. Have someone dress up as a lifeguard. Highlight some drinks with CA or beach names, like Malibu Barbies (Malibu Rum & pineapple juice) or Sex on the Beach. Of course, we don't all live on the beach in CA, but since she is moving along the coast, the beach things may be more appropriate. Hope this helps! Have fun!
San Fransisco is not really a "Palm Tree" kind of place - that's really more of an LA sort of thing. You could go with pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge, skyline scenes. You could get Giants baseball hats, little bags of chocolate gold coins to symbolize the gold rush. Little Chinese dragons to symbolize Chinatown, toy cable cars... a gift of wine glasses since SF is near wine country.
