Can you paint...?

Question:what would happen if i painted on the wallpaper? i have wallpaper, from the people before, in my bedrm and i want to paint. would it be better to paint on it or to take it down first.

Answers:
Your best bet is to take it done, and do a light skim coat of joint compound , let it dry, and sand smooth, and prime & paint. get more free tips

Take it down, and paint the wall instead. The humidity of the paint may ruin the wallpaper and you can end up with shreds, bubbles, and gawd knows what.

Besides, the paint may end of peeling off much easier so you'll waste the money invested
I agree. Although it is possible, it's worth the extra effort to strip the paper off and start fresh. Check out this link for specific information.

It's best to remove the paper before painting. It's a messy job but if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right the first time. Use a light spackle and sand it to smooth the surface of the wall everywhere it's needed after removing the wall paper. Apply primer before painting. It'll look great and well worth the work.
