Answers:
Middle English kichene, from Old English cycene, probably from Vulgar Latin *cocna, from Late Latin coquna, from feminine of Latin coqunus, of cooking, from coquus, cook, from coquere, to cook.

The word "kitchen" is derived from a much older indo-european root. Essentially it means "to cook", and has the same root as word "cook". Most other western indo european languages have a similar word.
kouzzina - Greek
кухня (kukhnya) - Russian
cuisine - French
coquina - Latin
Probably a spinoff of the word " Kuchen" German infinitive verb "To Cook" and pronounce [koo-ken].
Ex. Kuchen Sei? (Can you cook?)
Would you cook your meals in the kitchen if it was called anything Else like a loo. think not
