Are there any good ways to get things to hang on old plaster walls?
Question:I live in an older home and the walls are plaster. Everytime I hang a picure or anything the nail pulls right back out. I've tried mollys and sticky tabs but nothing seems to work. Are there any really good sticky tabs or any other options? I appreciate it!
Answers:
they have anchors for hanging pictures, you put a small hole in the wall next you install a plastic anchor, next you screw in a screw and hang whatever you want on the screw that will secure whatever you hang
If it is plaster and lathe (little wood planks behind the plaster) you need to make sure you get a nail long enough to go into the lathe behind.

It's a toughy. I just pulled down some old plaster walls. All I can think of is something called "liquid nails." You'll find it mainly in the caulk aisles of Lowe's or Home Depot or other hardware store. It will definitely hold it. The only thing is that it will pull the paint or wallpaper off the wall when you remove whatever you are hanging. Good luck!
Molly boats hold better in plaster. The problem is the plaster, and lathe, and screen on them walls is thick.Get molly boats that have at least a 2 and a half shank on them. You can just buy a few in a small pack..they should work
We used sharp pointed screws. Like deck or dry wall screws. Through the plaster into the lath.
