Will it hurt to put a couch over the air conditioner vent?
Question:I am wanting to redecorate and that's the only place I can find for it. Thanks.
Answers:
no. you can get a deflector at any hardware store.
No, not as long as there is room under the couch for the air to flow. If you block the flow, it won't hurt anything but it may make the room uncomfortable.
You need to keep objects away from the vent. If not, the cool air will not circulate, and will make your a/c unit work even harder.
I don't think it will hurt a thing...sometimes you just gotta' do what ya' gotta' do! LOL You might turn off that vent, so that it forces more out the others though.
Good Luck!!
if it is in the floor then no but you should go to a hardware store..they have things to attach to your vent that will vent out to the edge of your couch so you are still getting the most out of your air conditioner..they are smiliar to spouting..
I have to say NO...it will put a strain on your A/C system and is just not worth it..you say 'it's the only place I can find for it' but have you tried rearranging your furniture on graph paper? you use one inch graph paper, where an inch represents one foot, cut out (on paper) the shapes of all the furniture in the room, and then move the furniture around on the paper...worth looking into..I did it once years ago and it showed me more possibilities than I ever could have gotton just pushing stuff around!! there are actual kits you can get for this but am not sure where...check online or ask a furniture store if they sell them or know where you can get one..better yet, just buy the one inch graph paper, and start cutting out the furniture shapes yourself..it's a nice, easy fun thing to try....
