Why do i get air bubbles on a painted surface?

Question:i have recently painted a newly plastered ceiling and air bubbles have formed on the painted surface. why do these occur and how to avoid them?

Answers:
in your case i dont think the plaster is fully dry, sounds like its still oxidising..drying out! leave it a couple more weeks rub out the marks and try again....

Did you wait for the plaster to dry properly first? sometimes you have to seal the plaster with watered down paint before you paint with emulsion.
I don't think you let the plaster set up enough and it vented and you got bubbles. Use the right paint, you usually need to use a primer (cheap paint will work) aftyer the plaster is completly dry. It usually takes 3 coats of plaster to smooth the surface and if you don't like dust you can use a smooth damp sponge, but make sure the plaster is dry, then prime, then paint.
