Blankets, bedspread or quilt, sheets, towels, something to carry shower stuff back and forth, put together a little jar of nails, tacks, safety pins, twist ties, needle & thread, things like that so you have it on hand. Screw driver and small hammer, dirty clothes hamper, first aid kit, container with pain medication, cough syrup, tums & stuff like that you may need, a dry erase board for your door so people can leave you messages, containers to store snacks in, a microwave or hot plate if they let you have them. You may want a small frige for your room. Alarm clock, glue tape and sissors, decorative pillows, a rug, pictures all the stuff to make your room yours! Hope you have a blast while you are there!

dont get any of those posters that literally everyone else is going to have. get a cool light and maybe a comfy chair a rug is nice. maybe a tapestry if youre into that.
Well are you going to live by yourself or with a roommate? If it's with a roommate then you're not going to have alot space. Actually if you live by yourself you're not going to have much space anyway. Basically don't take things just because you think they'll look "cool". Take only what you need and try to put any extra space to good use. like buy bins to slide under your bed so you can keep your clothes in there.
take a george forman grill could nout have survied with out mine cooks a ton of stuff an easy to clean
take a few pics, a shower caddy for bathroom necessities, your clothes n a small dresser. comfy but small bed.if ur sharing, n all school supplies
Leave all the extraa stuff at home with ur parents...u wont have a ton of space to decorate so keep it cheap like IKEA or Linens n Things, they always have good student specials this time fo year
desk lamp
alarm clock
tiny fridge
clothes hangers
under-the-bed storage container
sheets/pillow/blankets
bag for your toiletries to take to the bathroom - some people use a cute little bucket
little shelves for the wall
computer/printer
tv/dvd player
stereo
microwave
earplugs!
Don't buy items to decorate yet - wait until you see the room & your roommate & her stuff
mini fridge
iron and small ironing board
small storage units (those plastic storage containers with drawers)
rug
plate, bowl, silverware (just one of each item should be enough)
camp chair or other small chair
lamp
posters
cd player
fan
tv/dvd player
tapestries
wastebasket
-Check your orientation packet, they should also list ideas for items to bring
if your room dosen't have a fridge and a microwave, then take one. also if you are a coffee drinker you might want a coffee maker. best way to make a room look good is firstly by getting nice bedding. get a throw and some cusions for your bed. and push it up against the wall, that way you and ur friends can use it as a couch during the day. also get folders and pencile holders and desk accesories that all match, in like a modern purple and chrome type colors. an area rug is a nice way to add color. if you are allowed to change the blind then do that. if you can hand posters/pictures that might be an idea too. if you have an eat in area, a modern table cloth and funky plates are a nice way to dress a table. try walmart and target. you'd be surprised at how nice some of there stuff can be. also ebay sometimes has nice finds. there are lots of yard sales this time of year, so you might wanna try that too.
Get your father to do the decorating for you it wont come any cheaper than that .
You will have to take some of your mothers cooking utensils .
Hang pictures of your friends and family on the walls. Our dorm let us use sticky tack so it was easy to remove and reposition. Make your own little frames out of contruction paper so they will be unique. Don't take a lot of big stuff for decoration because there will not be enough room and you won't have any where to put it. I do recommend pictures though especially of the people that you will miss from home!!
