I have old 1 inch ceramic tile in my bathroom. I have purchased inexpensive linoleum tile to lay over it.?
Question:would it be better to regrout the old tile so there would be no air spaces where the grout is worn?
Answers:
Put a coat of thinset morter over the whole thing and you will have no problems
yes, unless you want mold to grow under your new floor.
Yes if it is not level, the surface will telegraph through linoleum
I think so. Have Stanley Steamer or someone come in and professionally clean it and reseal the grout, or replace it. A bathroom is generally a small space and shouldn't cost too much. Laying the softer tiles over it will wear terribly over time.
you need to remove the old tile or you will have lots of problems.
