Where should I install pot lights in my new home?
Question:I am moving to a new house. It is 1750 sq. feet with a combination living/dining room, kitchen and great room off the kitchen on the main floor. Where do people normally install pot lights in a house and in what configuration? There is a short hall as you enter the house with the kitchen and great room at the back. Three bedrooms upstairs.

Directly above the pot plants?
makeloans2 I love you! lol
Question person, I assume you mean canister lights... recessed can lights in the ceiling? I've ever only seen them in kitchens and occasionally in bathrooms because of their broad overhead lighting capabilities. Kitchens and bathrooms are pretty static in their activities and good direct lighting is all that is required.
I think they would be too intense, not dynamic enough for other rooms where you would want to change the lighting for different activities. Though you could do eyeball canisters (see one here: http://www.rd.com/content/opencontent.do... to illuminate artwork on the walls.
