Paint pricing for my house?

Question:I had an estimate of 3000 dollars to remove the paint and repaint the outside of my house, demnesions are about 24 by 24 and 2 stories. Is this a good estimate or can I do better?

Answers:
I'd get three or four bids myself. Word of warning, be sure you get references and examine the quality of their work before you hire anyone.

Thats excactly1,152 square feet and alot of ladder work.3k is actually an excelent price, especially if thier furnishing paint...beware of cheap paint, make sure they at least "spot prime", any/all areas that raw wood is showing..I have been a paint contractor for at least 20 years and have painted 37 years(since 13)..Use a good oil base primer for the raw areas, and make sure they prime what they scrape in a day..If scraped and left raw on a humid /rainy/moist night it can make some of the edges from the scraped edges curl back up and later peel easier...Personally, not even knowing how bad it needs it ..I would be comfortable saying, I would probably charge around $4,500.00 furnishing all materials, so If they do a good job, that is a good price.
sounds about right to me Patch!
