What is a good way to store shells and other small breakable things?
Question:I have shells from a vacation and also from the beach that my mother loved, and I am trying to figure out what to do with them. I want to keep them from getting broken, but I don't know if I should store them in a little box or display them? We don't have a lot of room in our house so we try not to put out too many knickknacks, etc.
Thanks!

I would find a clear sealable container or even a really nice shadow box & fill it with a ton of sand to cushion it. You can most likely find sand at any craft (Michael's) or home improvement store (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) & nobody has to know that it's not the original sand from the beach ;o) I have a bunch of shells I collected when I went on vacation one year to Gulf Shores Alabama & I love them. I simply just found a sturdy plastic water bottle, aired it out & then filled it to the brim with my shells & sand I got from the beach.
Large glass vessels such as jars, vases, etc.
Go to the Goodwill store or an art store like Michael's, buy a plain or colored glass jar with a lid, buy colored pebbles and some filler sand. Create a sand bottom, fill in the shells with the colored pebbles to match your decor and you have a beautiful keepsake. Depending on the size of the shells, you can do the same with a small dish, or a tall open jar or even a vase. Better yet, mix it potpourri and put a little slip of paper with your vacation destination and date typed in.
storing them, you should use boxes with foam/plush material to stop hock and clatter and breaking. Displaying them, you can use tiny vessels like clear bowls, vases or even in small (nice) plaster plates which you can display in your bathroom or others. Hope this helps
what i did with mine was glue the small shells around a mirror frame looks awesome in my bathroom!! all u need are small sheels and a glue gun! the larger ones i put in a basket or glue them together in some kind of arrangement!
