Too much Pink!?
Question:about a year ago my parents spent alot of money on making my room what I wanted it was a Lot of pink. the colors in my room are light pink lime green and some Hot pink. How can I tell my parents that I dont really want the light pink anymore which is The Main color of my room!
Answers:
so is it the pink u don't want all together or what? There r ways u can go about this to tone the pink down.
If u'r walls r pink y not add another color like a lime green stripe... circles of lime gr & anthr color. like brown or yellow.
I would approach u'r folks in the appreciation for u'r room & what they have done for u but u would like to tone the pink down. Then present them w/ some suggestions & even draw u'r room w/ design colors.
I think if u approach them w/ ideas/mayb pic & appreciation, they would work w/ u.
Add more color fabric in the room... go to fabric store in the clearance bins or thrift stores & find stuff that u can make into pillows/cushions/design on the walls/pin up boards/valance/covers..etc...
If u approach them w/ that.. i think 1) they would b impressed that u did approach w/ appreication 2) that u came prepared w/ ideas & pix...
best of luck
Color an entire wall in indelible black ink while they're away one day
just tell them that you want a new color maybe a darker pink, just appreciate them while you do it, say first, "i really love my room but..."
"mom..dad...i don't really want the light pink anymore." easy peasy
Tell them that you are maturing, and that the pink doesn't appeal to you the way it once did. Then offer to buy new paint from your allowance or savings, and repaint it yourself. It's fun and good to do stuff like this yourself.
If you are over 10, there is no reason why you couldn't paint the room yourself (except the ceiling) if that is the main problem. Then, depending on their budget you could gradually redo the room in neutral tones. I always recommend off white walls because you can change your decor for very little cost.
I could sew by age 6 and painted the walls every year for about $10 whatever color I wanted including a full length mural when I was 12. You need to have a conversation with your parents without drama. They should understand that your tastes have changed as you matured.
a year is'nt so bad just tell them that like them you tastes
are changing as your getting older and you would like to cut down onthe pinky little girlie stuff .and that it makes you embarrised to bring your friends home.best to start on daddy first they are always the easiest to convince...good luck
