I have a tiny kitchen and $3000. How do I stretch my remodeling dollars?

Question:I definitely need to put in a new sink and the floor is really crummy press-on tile. What else should be a priority for spending the money? Also, I don't have any real training, but I'm good at reading directions and am pretty careful using chemicals, tools, etc. What should I do on my own? What jobs do I have to pay someone to do? Can you recommend any good sites or books I should read? Thanks!

Answers:
You could refinish the cabinets, do the floor, get a new counter top and sink.

gamble away girly.
hit the slots, or got to the convenience store and buy all of the scratcher tickets you can with $3000. you're bound to end up with at least some 5 dollar scratchers..
Ruby,

Both Lowes and Home Depot have saturday seminars on tile and kitchen stuff.

You might drop by and take a couple courses for inspiration. The seminars are tailored for do it yourself type people who have the ambition, but not necessarily the knowledge. Might be a good place to start.

do everythng yourself
Unless you are buying new expensive appliances, you should easily be able to fix the sink and floor, maybe even replace cabinet doors or repaint. Do as much as you can yourself or with friends, the costs of remodelling is primarily Labor.
