How much would it cost to install a solar entergy system in a home that is 2200sq.ft. ?

Question:The house is a two story with 2200 sq. ft. both floors.

Answers:
I know of no place that it takes 70 years to get a pay back on a solar electric system. Most people will sell their home way before 70 years have passed anyway. And they will add the price of the solar electric system to the price and get all their money back and years of free electric. Fuel cost are increasing at a rate of 6.5% plus yearly so over the 30 year life of a home and solar electric system you would be able to save $30,000 to $50,000 and get your money back when you sell. I don't see a loss of any kind.

So you know, You do not install solar energy by the sq. foot of the home. For any kind of a system be it space heating, water heating or electric. You size it by your requirments and usage. And how much up front money you have.

Before you do anything, check with local authorities to see if you are allowed back up batteries. On Long Island, N.Y., we are not.
The reason behind it is that charging batteries causes hydrogen gas. If not vented properly it WILL explode.
So they next question to ask yourself is, when will I be using the energy. If you are home during the day often, then it may pay to install. But if you go to work in the morning, and come home in the evening, then it doesn't pay. Commercial building can benefit from this because they are open during the day, with ALL the lights on while the sun is out.
Hydrogen gas is very volatile, and I guess the authorities, at least around here, don't want them in every house hold.
I've worked on battery back up systems for ADP( automated data processing), the check writing people for a lot of businesses, and the venting and the hydrogen monitoring systems are very elaborate. If your area allows batteries, then go for it, but if they don't you may need to think it through a little more.
In California the price for solar panels are about $20,000 us dollars . But they are a good investment they lower you energy price in your home and you can get a tax break at the end of the year .
around here the price to install would take over 70 years to recoup your losses... and then they dont even last 70 years..
