Depends on what you want and where you are building. I would imagine the average is between $150,000 and $300,000. Not as high as some other states, but still a good chunk of change....
I live in Texas as well. It completely depends on what part of Texas you're in and if you already own the land. What size house are you talking about? A house around 2,500-3,500sq. ft. could run you anywhere from $200,000-$400,000. Again that is only for the house and not the land. West Texas will be much cheaper than central and northern texas.
