Paint and wallpaper do not mix. Help with dilemma...?
Question:I ripped off all the wallpaper from our new home's powder room. I spackled, cleaned the walls with TSP, and primed. But lo behold, when I put the first coat of paint, I saw some fuzz on the walls. I am assuming it's the small bits of wallpaper backing I may have overlooked.
Should I sand the areas, and then, put a second coat of paint?
What do I do?
Answers:
Use 320 grit sand paper and sand the areas until smooth then repaint. You might be able to use a small putty knife to get the little pieces of remaining wallpaper off but you will have to be careful not to dig into the drywall.
Good luck.
Yes I would either sand or scrape it off and then prime twice just to be sure that everything will cover nice
that is exactly what I would do
that plan will work. it sounds like you'll be fine because it seems you pay attention to detail
Yes, you want the surface to be smooth and clean. Or you could use a paintable wallpaper , you can get all kinds of textured paper. This covers all imperfections on your walls.
