Make sure the metal is clean, remove any old paint and use some sort of solvent, however read the paint directions first so as not to use a solvent the paint says not to. Make sure you get an enamel paint for metal surfaces.

The easiest way to paint it will be w/ a spray if you can get it. I recommend practicing on something else first so you can learn how to apply the paint smoothly w/o excess or overrun. Also do it outside.

You want to start the spray pattern off of the edge and then bring it on to the surface. If not, the paint will tend to blob when you first press the trigger. Also end the pattern off of the opposite edge. Have a backdrop, it's messy. Overlap a little, but not too much. It takes a little practice, but will produce a very professional looking finish. Also keep in mind, the glossier (or shinier) the finish, the harder it will be to make it look smooth. Also, several thin coats will produce a nicer finish than one heavy coat.

Actually, you're saying the cupboards are brand new, so if the existing paint is very smooth, you may just be able to paint over it. Just make sure the surface is clean before you paint it.

The guy below is right, lightly sand it with some fine sandpaper if you intend on painting over the existing paint.

Check with a paint store and tell them you need to paint metal. There are spray-can paints [enamel] made for small jobs, or perhaps the shop can find similar in the right quantity for your 2 cupboards. House paint or interior paint or fence paint will NOT adhere properly to metal, so get the right kind!
first rub out previous paint from it.then use spray or roller brush to paint.
never just paint over any paint on metal, lightly sand it first if it's new to give the surface 'teeth' to hold the new paint, spraying will be easiest but i'd test my skills on something unimportant first if i were you,not everyone paints good, lol
Match the paint u want to put on yr cup board with yr wall paint.

Rub the surface so that the old paint is cleanes enough to accept the new paint.

If u have a tight budget, then paint it in yr own way.

Give yr own thinking and paint it as u like it. U may put two colours for better look.
