How much would I charge to hang drywall on a comercial job? By the sheet?
Question:I have a friend who is a manager at a apartment complex, and he wants me to do the sheetrock and finishing on some parts that need remodeling. Every thing is clean and ready to hang the sheets. I know they charge by the sheet I just don't know how much. I have the tools and I know how to do the job, I just need to know how much to charge. thanks

Labor: $.28/SQ FT
Total: .55/SQFT
Taping and finishing (Level 4 Finish)

Labor Hours: .017
Material: $.30/ SQ FT
Labor: $.59/SQ FT
Total: .89/SQFT
Total is $1.44/SqFt and assuming you're using 4x8 sheets, each sheet would be $46 but in other parts of the counrty it could be as high as $54.
Call a drywall contractor in the yellow pages and tell them you have a ten foot lid because ten foot lids are norm for mersh jobs and 3500 sq,ft, of floor space and they will give you a price over the phone and if they don't give the square price just divide it up.Just remember that the taller the ceiling the more the price!
It is by the square foot of rock, but if you aren't licensed and insured, you and your friend might be hagging your asses out further than you think. Around here it is a $1000.00 to be working without a license the first time you are caught. Something else you should think about is what will happen if you get hurt, and I mean really hurt and can't work for a month, year, etc...Who is paying Labor & Industries (occupational safty insureance) on you. My guess is that your friend is just using you because you don't know how much to charge, and doesn't realy want to pay you the going rate.
Be careful!
