After drying my clothes I often find small circular stains. Where do they come from? How can I get them out?

Question:It would also me nice to know how to prevent them in the first place. I know they're not there before I put the garment in the wash. It's almost like their "magically" showing up. Are there any good "after wash n dry" products to get rid of the dried in stain?

Answers:
Check your washer and dryer's drums for nicks and rust. Often metal buttons and zippers, rivet on jeans nick away the enamel surface of the drum and allow rust to form. If that is the case, you can prevent them from transferring rust to your clothing by using appliance touch up paint from the home improvement center. To remove the stains if they are rust (they are usually yellow or brownish in color), you can use Whink which is available at the grocery and discount stores.

If they are being caused by something else (wish I knew what color they are for better diagnosis), Zout in the red bottle is about the best stain remover for set in stains. I usually soak "mystery" stains in Biz stain activated non-chlorine bleach, treat the spot with Zout and my usual laundry detergent. This method gets out almost all stains of unknown origin.

sounds like your dryer is burning them
if by small, u mean the size of buttons, it's probably ur dryer, heating the buttons to the point where they scorch the fabric. try using a lower setting, and if that doesn't work, it might be time for a new dryer if possible.
Do they look like grease stains? They may be caused by your fabric softener. You can generally remove these type stains with a bar soap (like Ivory) rubbed on the spot then rewashing it.

Are they yellowish or orangish? This could be caused by your water supply. To prevent put a water purifier on the line to the washer. To remove the stains use a rust remover.

Are they like tiny dots? This may be mildew which is very hard to remove. To prevent do not place damp clothes in the laundry basket but hang them to dry before placing in the laundry.

There may be other causes but those are the most common circular stains.
It's dirty water. Like maybe you've washed your whites with something you shouldn't have. I once sent my DD's expensive white sweater to the cleaners because I didn't know what caused it, and they sent it back in the same shape. Then I figured it out. Put the stained things through a cold rinse before washing. Then wash them only with fabrics and colors just like them. You've got small circular stains that if you look, match the small circular holes in your washer tub. It happens when dirty water is forced through the fabric while spinning. The cold rinse first, plus washing again should remove the spots.
