Why are there chunks of rusty metal in my washing machine?
Question:Sometimes, usually after I do a few loads of clothes, I will notice chuncks of rusty metal in the bottom of the inside of my washing machine, and they sometimes even leave rust stains on my clothes. The pieces of metal are usually about an inch long and maybe only 1/4 inch wide. What can be causing this? Is there any way to prevent this from happening again?

Uhm, how old is this washing machine. Is it in an area that gets alot of moisture? Either or both is contributing to the end of this machine and the beginning of a new one. I'm sorry to say your machine is rusting out and you need a new one.
Go to a laundrette and buy a new washing machine duh!
your machine is probably too old and needs to be replaced if its rusting
Go to a mechanic. Maybe there's something wrong with your washing machine like rusty bolts (I don't even know if they have bolts lol)
I love your avatar by the way ^^
Its old and rusting
It`s self destructing.
Well lets think here...it couldn't be the plastic you thought your washing machines is made out of. But its probably because its made out of metal and its old! SO GO BUY A NEW ONE! go buy a new one!
Double check your pockets before you put everything in. I bet rusty metal chunks are falling out of them.
It is time for a new washing machine .
