Septic smell?

Question:septic smell in hse only sometimes.brand new septic systen what could it be

Answers:
it could be toiket

I would check the pipes under the house for broken or cracked pipes.
I'd be calling the installer and ask him. You would not have a back up of sewage to come thru your washer pipe/hose. Call them.
Oh, ick. I had a smell in my upstairs like that for over a year. Only happened sometimes but it was disgusting. I had 4 plumbers and even had a guy come out and test my pipes with a smoke machine, no leaks. After I caulked around the toilets and the floor it magically went away. Lots of $$$ spent on trying to fix this problem and it was so easy in the end. Try this and see if it works. Good luck!
This can often occur in bathrooms you use seldom as in the guest room shower. The drain dries up and the smell then can seep into the room. Run some water in your shower/tub drains regularly and see if that isn't the problem.. This is what happened to me.
Our shower smells sometimes - we pour bleach down the drain after showering so that it will be there all the rest of the day w/o being rinsed away.

Also...at our old house we would notice the smell every so often (very very strong). It ended up being a problem w/ the city main line. We found out the hard way when our house was flooded by the backup in the line. :-(

Try the bleach, if the smell persists and gets worse, call the city waste water department for info.
Since you stated the system is new, have you used a septic system treatment, it can be liquid or tables, just use the amount needed for your size septic tank per the directions. We have a place in the country that has an engineered spectic system, and if we haven't been there for awhile to use the system, there is a septic smell for a short time until the system pumps a few times. If there is a tub, sink, shower in your house that doesn't get used that often, water can evaporate out of the trap and you would get the spectic smell.
Had this problem as well. Started putting yeast down the toilet once every six weeks. Works great. Since it is a new system, you may want to make sure it is all connected as it should be. Is there a 'stink pipe' going out your roof?
