How can I have dog/animal hair removed from my carpet?
Question:The previous owner had two large dogs and the hair is in the carpet and on the blinds. The previous owner neglected to clean or shampoo the carpet before moving and the animal hair is really bothering my allergies. What can I do to rid my home of animal hair?
Answers:
A swiffer duster will work on the blinds. I found a new carpet powder made by Arm & Hammer that claims to help loosen pet hair out of carpets. I found it in the pet aisle. I just bought a car a few weeks ago and the lady had huge dogs and I bought some to try to get the dog hair out of the carpet but haven't tried it yet.. It was only $1.99 so not out that much money if it doesn't work.
get a vacuum with a hepa filter and vac it.
Short of buying a really expensive vacuum like a Kirby or a Dyson I'd say just spend the $ and pay someone with professional equipment to clean the carpets and blinds. It'll be worth it if you can live comfortably in your own house again.
A very expensive vacume will work, however a much cheaper solution is available and I have used it many times in the past. A curry comb is a comb used to groom dogs and it takes the hair they shed off of them. It can be used very effectively to remove hair from carpet, it takes some work but will clean the carpet to like brand new with no hair in it. Give it a shot and good luck to you and your allergies
I don't know how embedded it is but have you tried putting on a rubber cleaning glove and rubbing it over the surface?
The rubber attracts the hair like a...uh...a uh...magnet. hahaha
