I had a fire so i used a fire extinguisher on the glass cooktop. How can I clean it?
Question:
Answers:
You can safely vacuum the dry chemical power that came from the fire extinguisher with either a shop vac, sweeper with attachments, or a portable unit.
Clean the surface with hot water and a little bit of dishwashing liquid.
DO NOT USE CHEMCIAL CLEANERS!
(They could react with the extinguishing agent!)
After you have it all cleaned up, if you have a film left on the glass then you could safely clean that with glass cleaner.
I would try using a basic oven cleaner first, and see if that will remove it. OR I would call the appliance store where I purchased the stove, and ask if they would have any suggestions. I'm not sure what is in a fire extinguisher, but what you use to clean it has to be able to desolve that.
Good Luck.
Use a vacuum to clean up the dried foam. Then first just use a wet cloth. If anything is still on the stove top, go to a commercial janitorial supply store and get a window cleaner without alcohol in it. You could also go to a website (like SEARS, BEST BUY, etc.) and contact customer service to see what they recommend. Glass cook tops are so easy to mess up, that you want to make sure your don't use a product that will take the special markings off. Good luck.
Wash the spot with a good all-purpose cleaner mixed with warm water and wipe dry.
You will need 2 tbs. Dawn and about a 1/2 cup of degreaser to a gallon of hot water. (degreaser can be found in any $$$.) Rinse with hot water.
use warm soapy water
I have had a glass top stove before. I would first wipe it up with a wet sponge and then add some Dawn dish soap.
