How do i get rid of a pit stain that is so bad its actually brown?
Question:i borrowed this shirt from my friend and it has horrible pit stains
it is so bad it still smells even after she washes it, so before i give it back i want to get them out for her. But it has to be non damaging, because i dont want to ruin her shirt. it is just a simple white hollister shirt that says in lite blue, HOLLISTER, across the front.

Dab some white vinegar on the stains with a cotton ball or clean white wash cloth and set it out in the sun until it's dry. Then wash as usual, but check the stain before you throw it in the dryer. If it isn't out completely, do it again. Vinegar is a natural bleach (and so is the sun) and should not harm the material.
Go to the store and buy some stain remover for clothes, it may work. Spray it and let it soak before you wash it. You can also do it a few times.
I have used stain remover for tuff things like grease and things like wine and it worked great.
My husband has the same problems with some of his t-shirts, they smell in the pits even after I've washed and used spray & wash.
The only thing that I've found that works is Oxyclean.
It will tell you the measurements, but always use hot water or it won't work as well, and mix it in and stick the shirt in and stir it around and let it sit in there for a few minutes and stir again. You'll see it foam up and once I washed a quilt I bought at a garage sale and just put it in the washing machine with hot water and the oxyclean and you could smell this horrible smell when you walked by the washer. I mean it got it so clean it was unbelievable. I love that stuff!
it is from her deodorant so you might want to suggest an new brand to help her with this problem.
if you go to a dry cleaner they might be able to give you some tips.
You get rid of it by throwing the shirt out.
The best way to rid these stains is this, buy some old fashioned soap bar soap, ( Natural Soap) you can find this in your local hardware store. Soak the shirt in cold water, remove the shirt, rub in the soap. Give a good rub& put plenty on. Leaving the shirt with the soap on and free from water say 1/2 hr, this lets the soap soak in. Then back to cold water, give a rub to the stain. If the shirt can be washed in the machine , even on a low temp , add more soap to the stains and pop into the machine on a normal wash. If it is only hand wash add more soap give another rub and rinse. Now hang outside in the sun, the sun will do the rest of the work for you , by bleaching out any remaining stains , the natural way
Mix a little vinegar with some laundry detergent and scrub the stains, then wash as usual. If it doesn't come out with one treatment, repeat. This has always worked for me.
