How would you clean a cowboy hat?
Question:My neighbor has a felt cowboy hat that has a stain on it. What could you use to remove the stain? He doesn't want to dry clean it.
Answers:
Being a Texas gal, I have lots of cowboy hats. This is what I do to keep them looking their best: Loosen dirt and dust with a soft brush, gently brushing in the same counterclockwise direction around the crown and the brim. Use a light touch when cleaning felt: Scrubbing can leave bald spots on the hat. If you find grease spots, pat a bit of cornstarch over the area and let sit for several hours or until the grease is absorbed, then brush off. To erase rain spots on a light tan hat, try a felt-cleaning sponge (sold at hat stores). Store the hat upside down on its crown in a hat box, so the brim doesn't flatten. Never place a hat near a radiator or lamp -- excessive heat can shrink the sweatband.
Vacuum it then spot clean with a solvent.
try steaming the spot and using resolve stain remover.
Felt hats are expensive,so take it to a pro.
