What is the best way to wash something cotton which is striped black and white?

Question:I worry the white stripes will go grey if I put it in a dark wash, and if I put it in a white wash the black will contaminate all my other whites! Help! What does everyone else do?

Answers:
wash it on a cool wash with anti colour run wash powder.

u can buy a new thing that is out and they catch the colour in your machine if the colour runs..they look like a tumble dryer sheet...your supermarket should do them..xxx
hand wash it
Try washing it by hand first to see if the black comes out at all.....if not next time put it in with the whites but at a 40 wash.
soak the cotton in mild soap for a little while and then wash it, but dry the cloth in the shade.
On a 30 degree delicates wash and put a colour catcher sheet in with it.
Wash as a cool white wash and use a colour catcher sheet
get your mom to do it and if she wrecks it,it is not your fault and she can buy you a new one
Wash it separately for the first few washes.
I'd wash it on it's own to begin with on a cool, delicate cycle.
Wash at 30c Use a colour care detergent product
Let me go watch a Zebra take a bath, then i'll ask him and get back to you.
Firstly, don't wash it with whites, in case it does run. Second, wash whites at higher temperature than 30! Third, try it on a 30 on it's own on a mini load and time saver cycle. Fourth, buy a packet of Colour Catchers, I never wash anything without them now, they're that good! What does the label say?
Delicate or hand wash in a net bag in a cold wash with a mild not fading detergent and a colour catcher cloth available in most markets, reshape and hang dry
daily wash
Use colour catcher!! the new sheets that are out. I'm useless at washing and these things are brilliant!!
Wash it on it's own.with an oxy wash. Next time chuck it in with the whites. Good luck!
wash at 30c that should prevent any colours running ,safe to put in with other colours as long as they have all been washed before as the first time items are washed they tend to lose the most amount of colour.
always wash as the label advises. wash inside out to keep colours true. a colourcatcher sheet should catch any loose dye. these can be purchesed in supermarkets. any loose dye comes out first wash. use appropriate detergent for colourds and whites as they keep the colours true.
If it was me I would hand wash it or wash separately
whats up with hand washin with soapnwater?
I would put it in with darks that have been washed before but if in doubt wash on a 40 by it's self hope this helps
Wash your stripey top in a dark wash where you know that nothing will run or just wash it on its own
Just bang em in!nowt will happen just watch!if it does, throw em away and go by some more and don't do it again!
I've got a good idea - ask a burgular! They must have some good tips for doing back & white striped laundry!!Well i thought it was funny, hope it made u smile!!
well for 1 that black inst black its a very very very very very dark and intense Blue or Green or a mix of both... if it was black, you technically wouldn't be able to see it, but that splitting hairs and doesn't solve your issue.

IF your really worried, put them in on a medium wash on their own, in the wash process, ensure that you put the same amount of common table salt in with same amount of soap powder.

The salt helps with the colour fastness of the articles.

You should then be able to wash them in with your regular wash, if your never sure of colour fastness of articles of clothing or other materials, give them a wash wish salt.

My girlfriend uses about 500g in a wash load that she is dying and they recommend clothes first time wash get washed in 100g of salted water per kilo of clothing (dry weight) and only recommend maximum wash load of 5 kilos Dry weight.

Note... Colour Catcher isnt a good thing either, read the small print!
i use a 30 degree wash on its own for the first few washes with a colour catcher sheet(available at all good supermarkets & some not so good ones) also use a colour care powder. should be ok. let me know how you get on.
Oh by the way some softners can encourage colours to run.
wash it separately from other clothes and not in a stained basin, with either bar soap or powdered soap or even liquid soap. So, it will remain clean and stainless
Hmmmm my best bet would be to ask a zebra...
Put it in a colour wash
