Best way to not have your new shirts shrink in the wash.?
Question:Im pretty big and when i buy XL shirts they fit perfectly the first time i wear them but once i wash them they shrink and and dont fit as good plus the colors start to fade. Whats the best way to keep this from happening?

Wash on cold (you can use detergent made for cold water) and hang to dry--the heat in the dryer will definitely shrink your clothing and the hot water will fade your clothing.
If you want, after the clothing has air dried you can fluff them on cool in the dryer for a few minutes to get the crispy feeling out of them.
You could hand wash them.
I think it depends on the material or the temperature that you wash them in and if you dry them or not. I wouldn't wash or dry lambswool! Some things should be hand washed. I wouldn't wash or try on a high temperature to aavoid shrinkage.
Wash them in in cold water - Hang them to dry. You can get little portable laundry racks from target that work great. When they are dry, throw them in the dryer on a low tumble for about 15 minutes to "Fluff" them up.

When washing items that you want to keep their color & shape:
1. wash only in warm or cold water
2. use mild detergent & color-safe bleach (if needed)
3. put item in dryer on low / air dry(OR)
4. only dry item for about 3-5 minutes, than hang or lay flat to dry completely
*putting it in the dryer ofr a few stops that crunchy feeling clothes sometimes get when they hang dry*
