Whats the best disinfectant to use in a child care room?
Question:Is bleach and water okay to use? Or should I use a Lysol disenfectant spray?
Answers:
I'm a preschool teacher, and in my opinion the best disinfectant is bleach and water (make sure you use the proper dilution). Lysol is not safe for toys that will be mouthed or surfaces that come in contact with food (they do have a lysol product now that is safe for food surfaces, I believe).
Most state child care regulations include regulations on what can and cannot be used for disinfecting. what you use to clean will be different than what you use to disinfect. Toys should be cleaned with soap and water, then disinfected. Surfaces should be cleaned with soap and water or cleaning solution and then disinfected. If you spray bleach and water on a dirty surface, it isn't going to properly kill bacteria. You need to clean, then disinfect. You also want to limit the amount of chemicals you are using, especially anything strongly scented. Properly diluted bleach does not have a strong smell. I have always used a mild dish detergent for cleaning and then bleach and water for disinfecting.
i use febreze
I use both.
lysol
NOoooooo to both, go out and find a natural one, like shakley or bio something. I think if you go to Oprah.com she just had a show not to long ago..hang on..

we always used lysol but now they make clorox that you can use on DRY surfaces that's a daily cleaner:

Lysol Disinfectant..bleach is too strong of a chemical to have around kids...Lysol is safe!
You can use diluted bleach 1/2 c. bleach to 1 gal. of water.. and then rinse toys.. You can wipe down furniture and mop floors with it as well.. .You want to do all of this after hours when the kids are all gone... You can use lysol spray, but only when the kids aren't around...
Just use Clorex wipes, the bleach may be to strong for little kids. Different type of sprays are harmful for babies lungs.
Neither because the fumes might hurt a baby unless given a certain amount were the baby is not in there than it is ok to use either
Bleach and water is a universal disinfectant, very inexpensive and effective!
I would use something natural, such as borax. It is a great disinfectant. You can find it in hte laundry section. Mix 1/2 cup borax into 1 gallon of hot water to disinfect and deodorize.
2 cups of bleach to a gallon of water. Put in a well-marked spray bottle and you have the best and cheapest disinfectant ever!
